Take the A1 motorway with direction Lausanne. Take the "Université / EPFL" exit. Continue onto "Route Cantonale" (about 1 km). Turn right to take "Avenue Forel" (130 m). Turn left onto "Route des Noyerettes" (260 m). Turn right onto "Avenue Piccard" (170 m).

Visitor Parking

You may park at the "Esplanade" underground parking. To get there, instead of turning right onto avenue Picard, keep going straight on Route des Noyerettes until you reach a large roundabout. Take the roundabout and follow the signs to visitor parking (1st exit of roundabout). Please guard the ticket issued by the automatic ticket-machine as you will need it to exit the parking!

Once you have cleared customs, turn left and follow the signs to the Airport's railway station. Tickets to Lausanne can be bought at the guichet on the right hand side as you enter the station through a revolving door. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased online here.

Once you arrive at the station, follow the exit signs toward the city. Exit to "Avenue de La Gare". You will see a McDonald's restaurant exactly opposite the main building of the station. Cross the road toward the McDonald's and then climb the uphill road ("Rue du Petit Chene") that is left of the McDonald's for about 50 meters. You will see Hotel Alpha on your left hand side (Rue du Petit Chene 34, 1003 Lausanne).

Once you arrive at the station, follow the exit signs toward the city. Exit to "Avenue de La Gare". You will see a McDonald's restaurant exactly opposite the main building of the station. Cross the road toward the McDonald's and then climb the uphill road ("Rue du Petit Ch�ne") that is left of the McDonald's for about 50 meters. Then turn right onto Avenue Sainte-Luce (it is a small street, not really an avenue!). You will find Hotel Elite on your left-hand side (Avenue Sainte-Luce 1, 1003 Lausanne).

Head up Rue du Petit Chene until you reach Place St. Francois. Cross Rue du Grand Chene and then go slightly left onto Rue du Grand Pont. After about 15 meters you will find stairs on your left leading down to the metro station. Take line M1 (direction "Renens"). You can buy your metro ticket from the automatic vending machines situated in the metro station (select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Get off at the "EPFL" stop.

As of October 27th, the new metro line M2 will be in operation. This will make getting to EPFL faster: once you arrive at the train station in Lausanne, follow the signs for the Metro station (the entrance to the metro station is right next to the McDonald's opposite the train station). You can buy your metro ticket from the automatic vending machines situated in the metro station (select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Take line M2 with direction ``Croisettes". Get off at the ``Lausanne Flon" stop (the first stop). At Flon, take line M1 with direction ``Renens". Get off at the ``EPFL" stop.

Rue du Petit Chene is a slightly steep uphill road - so if you would rather avoid the cardio exercise, you can take the bus to the metro station. The bus station is right outside the McDonald's restaurant. Take the MetroBus (labelled "MB") direction Montbenon (a ticket can be bought on the spot from bus stop's vending machine - note that you can buy your ticket inclusive of the metro ride from the machine; just select a zone 11+12 full price ticket). Get off at Montbenon (the terminal stop) and take the stairs/elevator down to the metro station (they are located across the street from the Montbenon bus stop).

Exit the platform to Route de la Sorge. Cross Route de la Sorge and turn left. After about 150 meters, turn right onto Avenue Piccard. After about 100 meters, take the stairs onto the second level. There you will see the entrance to the mathematics department (an orange door with labelled "MA").
