Chair of Mathematical Statistics (SMAT)

PhD Position

Applications are invited for a PhD position in statistics/applied probability at the Section of Mathematics of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Research topics fall within the scope an ERC Starting Grant on "Complex Data with Applications to Biophysics". Particular focus will be on the interface between functional data and shape theory.

The position will be in the Chair of Mathematical Statistics (Prof. Victor Panaretos).

Candidates for this PhD position should preferably hold a degree in mathematics and/or statistics, or in engineering with a solid mathematical background. Knowledge of French is not a requirement, but will be helpful.
